As Class VI becomes the new requirement in the medical science world, Smart Products can meet your biocompatible needs through a wide variety of our valves.
At Smart Products, we customize every valve by plastic body material, o-rings, and opening spring pressure – nothing is off the shelf to ensure it is the right fit for your current and future applications. For industries that need this capability, we have Class VI solutions for many of our customizable components. Available in Class VI by:
Plastic Body Material
Polycarbonate
Ultem* Resin
Polycarbonate is available in a variety of Series 100 Standard and Specialty valves, and Model #500 & #502.
Ultem* Resin is a new plastic body material offered by Smart Products and is available in most of our valves. A major benefit of this plastic is its ability to be ETO and steam sterilizable.
Other advantages of both plastics are their ability to withstand high impact and high temperatures. They are also transparent, which allows you to see liquids flow through the valve. For availability of Polycarbonate or Ultem* Resin in a particular valve, call us at (800) 338-0404 or email sales@smartproducts.com.
O-rings
Ethylene Propylene (EPDM)
Silicone
The compounds of these o-rings at Class VI compatibility require that we use a higher durometer (hardness of the o-ring) such as 60 or 70.
Opening Spring Pressure
Smart Products typically offers opening spring pressures from 0.07 PSI to 20 PSI, but we can also go higher depending on the valve and application requirements. For springs working with Class VI compounds, use of a higher durometer o-ring is required. If your device requires ultra low pressure requirements (i.e. under 1PSI), then you will need to test samples before ordering because higher durometer o-rings do not typically work well with lower spring pressures. The harder the durometer, the less flexible it is with sealing at lower flow levels. This fact may or may not affect your application, which is why we highly recommend testing our valves.
The right flow control solution for you…and it’s Class VI compatible
We’re able to offer Class VI compatibility in many components of our check valves and pressure relief valves. To ensure each of these components – plastic body material, o-rings, and opening spring pressure – is 100% compatible with your device, be sure and mention all liquids/gasses coming in contact with the valve, as well as temperature, environment, visibility, and other requirements. Keep in mind we have millions of flexible options to create the ideal valve for your design criteria.
